TLC Physician's MTHFR (Methyl-folate)
Description
Some individuals cannot effectively methylate (convert folic acid into its bioactive form) thus are still at risk of folic acid deficiency. This supplement supports methylation, DNA biosynthesis, homoscysteine metabolism, & nervous system function.
It is a very common mutation and those who are homozygous for either of the two common polymorphisms will only be slightly less efficient at methylation.
However someone who is heterozygous (that has two of the same polymorphisms) may have up to a 70 percent deficit. In the same manner, someone who is termed compound heterozygous will have one each of the common polymorphism. These patients will typically be poorer methylators than those with only one polymorphism, but not to the degree that someone who is heterozygous will be.
